Rick Sanchez Fired From CNN

Rick Sanchez Fired?Rick Sanchez’s six year run at CNN has come to an end with his firing after CNN responded to a radio interview on SiriusXM where Sanchez called Jon Stewart a “bigot” and implied that the media is controlled by Jews.

Jon Stewart is well known for mocking Sanchez on The Daily Show, and its been long rumored that Sanchez is thin skinned. The anti-Jewish rant is reported to have been Sanchez trying to get his own back at Stewart…be in rather unsuccessfully.

Sanchez, a Cuban-American, also stated several times that he’d experienced discrimination throughout his career, including at the hands of “a lot of elite Northeast establishment liberals” who saw him as someone “who belongs in the second tier and not the top tier.”

CNN, said it will telecast “CNN Newsroom” in Sanchez’s 3 to 5 p.m. time slot “for the foreseeable future.”
Comedy Central host Jon Stewart struck back at CNN host Rick Sanchez, who was fired after calling Stewart a bigot during a radio interview .
"Oh my God! Rick Sanchez knows my name," Stewart blurted out to audience members of the Daily Show during Monday's taping.
During the interview Thursday, Sanchez struck a chord, questioning whether Jews should be considered an oppressed minority.

By Friday afternoon, CNN announced Rick Sanchez was no longer working for their company.
But that wasn't quite enough for Stewart, who continued to make jokes at Sanchez's expense. During the Daily Show, he played edited clips of Steve Carrell as asinine boss Michael Scott on NBC's "The Office" and mixed in similar clips of Sanchez interacting with CNN co-workers.

Tony Curtis Death

Tony CurtisHollywood legend Tony Curtis, whose career spanned more than 60 years, has died at the age of 85, it was announced today. The dashing star - who will forever be remembered for his role in drag in the 1959 Billy Wilder comedy Some Like It Hot - suffered a heart attack.
Sir Roger Moore led tributes to Tony Curtis, telling Sky News: "He was a fine actor". Sir Roger, who starred alongside Curtis in TV hit The Persuaders, added: "I shall miss him."
Sir Roger played aristocrat Brett Sinclair in the series while Curtis was playboy Danny Wilde. The former James Bond star said: "We had a lot of laughs together for about 15 months, working together every day. "He was great fun to work with, a great sense of humour and wonderful ad libs. "We had the best of times."

Sir Michael Parkinson, who interviewed the star several times, said his performance in Some Like It Hot would live forever. He said: "He was a very, very fine actor. Some Like It Hot is one of the greatest comedies of all time.

The man who made it, Billy Wilder, did not suffer fools so for Tony Curtis to work with him and make that film shows just how good he was. "He was an extraordinary man. Hollywood tried to make him into a sex symbol in the 1950s and 1960s but he was his own man. "He was a great chatshow guest and was wonderfully indiscreet but he was very bright and did not take himself too seriously."

The actor's business manager and family spokesman Preston Ahearn told US TV network ABC News that Curtis passed away last night peacefully in bed next to his wife Jill in their home in Nevada.

Clark County coroner Mike Murphy said the actor suffered a heart attack. Curtis was the father of actress Jamie Lee Curtis, who is known for her roles in the original Halloween movie, True Lies and most recently You Again.

Tony Curtis, who had heart surgery in 1994, began his acting career as a 1950s heartthrob but became a respected actor in films such as The Defiant Ones. His portrayal of a racist escaped convict handcuffed to a black escapee, Sidney Poitier, in the film brought him an Oscar nomination in 1958.

Comedian Greg Giraldo Died

Greg Giraldo dies at 44
Greg Giraldo, the stand-up comedian perhaps most familiar to Comedy Central audiences for his clever rants and biting insult humour, has died at the age of 44.

Giraldo died Wednesday at a New Jersey hospital, where he had been since Saturday night, after being discovered unconscious in a hotel room in New Brunswick, N.J. No cause of death was announced.
On the weekend, U.S. media reported Greg Giraldo had been hospitalized after an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. The comedian was discovered in his hotel room after he failed to show up for a gig at a nearby club Saturday.

"The tragic news of Greg's passing hits us very, very hard," U.S. cable network Comedy Central said in a statement Wednesday. "Greg has been a member of the Comedy Central family for years, injecting his energy and wicked sense of humour into countless projects. "The comedy community lost a brother today. Our thoughts are with his family."
Born in New York in 1965, Greg Giraldo was a graduate of both Columbia University and Harvard, where he earned a law degree. Though he briefly worked at a law firm, he decided to leave to pursue a career in comedy.
He earned accolades as his career developed and became a familiar face on Comedy Central for his appearances on a myriad of comedy shows and specials as well as for his ubiquity on the network's celebrity roasts. He was also a regular on the late-night talk shows of David Letterman and Conan O'Brien, and turned up on the radio programs of shock jocks Howard Stern and Opie and Anthony.

More recently, in addition to his regular stand-up gigs, he also participated as a judge on the seventh season of NBC reality competition Last Comic Standing and appeared on Jerry Seinfeld's The Marriage Ref.

Despite his reputation as a talented and well-regarded comic, peers often quipped that Giraldo was the comedian no one had heard of. He was also upfront about fighting alcohol abuse and discussed his return to sobriety as well as his occasional slip-up. Greg Giraldo, who was divorced, had three children.
